A former alpine pasture chalet, the Refuge des Fonts lies in the heart of the superb Cirque des Fonts, in Sixt Fer à Cheval.
Accessible to everyone, a hike of approximately 1 hr 30 min leads you to the Refuge that overlooks a group of forty or so alpine pasture chalets.
This family refuge was first opened in 1926 and today offers a delightfully cosy spot to stop off for an enjoyable break to the soothing sound of the waterfalls. Nathalie and Benoit, the fourth generation of keepers, look forward to welcoming you to a warm and friendly atmosphere.
From Sixt Fer à Cheval, follow the signs towards the village of Salvagny.
You have the choice of two possible departure points:
- From Salvagny 2 hr hike.
- From Les Fardelays 1 hr 30 min hike.
Officially approved refuge for children under the age of 18 years and school groups.

Packed lunch: € 9.50
Hot shower: € 2.50
Two 9 bed dormitories and one 14 bed dormitory. Sheet sleeping bag hire (€ 2) and hut shoes are available.
